Historic Sites

Medieval castles have been a permanent feature of Pomorskie’s landscape. They are in very good condition and remember the times of the knights of the Teutonic Order. The most beautiful of all, the castle in Malbork, is the largest fortress in Europe and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The Castle Museum is visited by half a million tourists annually, who can not only admire the castle and its collections (militaria, amber products, and an exhibition of gothic sculpture), but can also participate in shows such as knights’ tournaments, multimedia shows, sightseeing by night and a re-enactment of the Malbork siege. Similar attractions await tourists along the entire European ‘Route of Gothic Castles’ in Poland. You have to visit the marvellous castles in Gniew, Kwidzyn, Pelplin and Sztum. A look beyond the enormous walls of these fortresses can offer you some nerve racking experiences – duels of knights and tournaments organised by fraternities.

The project „Regions of Poland” was realized in cooperation with the Offices of the Presidents of the 16 regions of Poland.
