Podlaskie Voivodeship is one of 16 Polish voivodeships. It was created by the terms of the act from July 24, 1998 concerning a triple level territorial division of the country.

The number of districts: 118 ( in which 13 are urban districts, 23 urban-rural and 82 rural districts)

There are 9 border crossing points: 3 with Lithuania (Budzisko, Ogrodniki, Trakiszki), and 6 with Belarus (Bobrowniki, Czeremcha, Kuźnica Białostocka, Połowce, Siemianówka, Zubki)
