Information about the Region

There are 21 district poviats and 4 municipal ones. In general there are 159 gminas in Podkarpackie: 16 municipal, 29 – municipal -rural and 114 rural. 44 places have the town charters. The remaining  47 places had such charters in the past but lost them because of economical and historical reasons. The building development have been preserved together with the market square as a central place of the town.

The biggest podkarpackie poviats are: rzeszowski – municipal  (166 thousand), mielecki (136 thousand), dębicki (134 thousand), jasielski (125 thousand), jarosławski (124 thousand) and stalowowolski (116 thousand). 

The biggest town of our voivodeship is its capital  Rzeszów. There are other big towns, among others: Przemyśl, Stalowa Wola, Mielec, Tarnobrzeg, Krosno, Dębica, Jarosław, Sanok and Jasło.
