Podkarpackie Voivodeship encompasses three separate physiographic lands  with the unique charm of the natural landscapes.Sandomierska Valley is on the north part, Pogórze Podkarpackie in the middle and Beskid Niski and Bieszczady mountains are in the south. This landscape is characteristic because of substantial differences in height,  This landscape is characteristic of substantial height differences, they fluctuate from 130 m. above sea level in the Vistula Valley, up to over 1300 m. above sea level in Bieszczady and cause the high climatic diversity, from the low – lying climate, through the submontane and mountainous ones. It is connected with the vegetation and rich and rare fauna. Forests cover about 35% of  Podkarpacie area, and over 45%  are covered by different forms of legal protection  including: 2 national parks: bieszczadzki and magurski, 10 natural landscape parks, several areas of the protected lanscape and several dozen nature reserves. It is worthy noticing that the Bieszczadzki National Park is placed on the world list of UNESCO biosphere reserves. It is a part of the Polish- Slovakian – Ukrainian biosphere reserve "KARPATY WSCHODNIE" (EASTERN CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS)- the only one nature reserve in the world, based on the agreement of the three countries.

Podkarpackie voivodeship together with its natural and cultural values is one of the most attractive tourist places in Poland and even in Europe. Each of the three geographical regions: Bieszczady, Beskid Niski and Sandomierska Valley creates the convenient conditions both for the recreation and touring. The recreation centers and agritourism farms attractively situated cause that more and more people choose this region for spending holiday. These areas are ideal for the mountain tourism and in winter for alpine and downhill  skiing. There are over 40 ski lifts for all skiing enthusiasts.

Podkarpackie is a perfect place for different forms of active tourism. Attractive tourist walking trails for hiking over the mountain summits like Bieszczady and Beskid Niski, the foothills area, or expeditions into the forests of the former Sandomierska and Solska Forests please not only the experienced tourists. The additional attraction for tourists are wolf, bear, bison and lynx traces. There are a lot of special paths allowing to meet the natural treasure and the beauty of the surrounding nature. 

We offer very interesting routes and paths for the cycling lovers. There is the most beautiful water area in Poland – Soliński Basin waiting for sailors. Canoeists are welcomed to use the regional rivers. Canoe trail along the San river to Przemyśl is one of the best known Polish canoeing. Moreover there are lots of riding centers. There are special routes mapped out in Bieszczadzki National Park for horse tourism. 

The hang-glider and paraglider lovers will find here the place with favourable conditions for gliding, such as  Bezmiechowa near Lesko – a place for record glides.  Roadless tracks of the region give wonderful opportunities for the driving by sport utility vehicles.

The biggest tourist attraction of the podkarpackie voivodeship is Bieszczady, the european oasis of the re-adapted wild nature. This place is unique in many respects and valuable because of the nature, landscape and cultural values. They were discovered for tourism in the interwar period and then the first hostels were built  in Sianki, Beniowa, Dydiowa or Sokole. Moreover,  the Józef Piłsudski red beskidzki trail was mapped out from Sianki to Krynica. The Marshal Piłsudski was in  Sianki in 1929 and together with his children went to the Dobosz Rock on Opołonek. After World War II the first group walking through this trail was the one led by the priest Karol Wojtyła from Kraków, he was then returning there within the following years, later as the krakowski archbishop he was resting in the valley of the upper Wisłok in Beskid Niski.
