Mazovia has over 5 million residents. It is Poland’s most populous region, with a young and well-educated population.
Mazovia is Poland’s most populous province. It has about 5 100 000 residents, equal to half the Czech Republic’s or Hungary’s population.
As compared to other European nations, the Poles are a young (half are under 33 years of age), well-educated people endowed with creativity and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. This is true in particular of the Mazovians. The region has the lowest unemployment rate and the highest number of employees (over 2.5 million). The statistical working resident is a little over 36; he is better educated and has a higher income as compared to residents of other provinces. Most Mazovians are urban residents (64 per cent), greater Warsaw being the largest urban centre (over 2.8 million). At the same time, Mazovia supports the country’s largest rural population (1.8 million): every fourth Mazovian is employed in agriculture.
One of the region’s major assets is its young and highly qualified population that has chosen to make Mazovia its home attracted e.g. by the rapid expansion of greater Warsaw. The province’s human potential contributes to its rapid economic growth.
